MTA NSW Announces Sponsorship of V8 Superboat Driver
21 Mar 2019
The Motor Traders’ Association of NSW (MTA NSW) is proudly sponsoring last year’s Australian Unlimited Superboat Class Champion Driver, Scott Krause, in the 2019 Australian Formula Jet Sprint Association’s (AFJSA) V8 Superboat Championships, which commences at Keith Diesel and Dirt Derby, South Australia on March 23, with the Championships running through to November 17 2019.
The superboat is equipped with a ‘440ci Haig Block, twin turbo’s with approximately 1100hp and is ready for the race’ that, according to organisers is, ‘loud, fast and dirty.’
Behind the wheel will be MTA NSW Member and veteran racer Scott Krause of Krause Auto and Marine in Temora. Scott has been competing for about 3 years and was placed 6
th
in the World in 2018, as well as being placed first in the 2018 AFJSA Australian V8 Superboat Championships.
MTA NSW CEO, Stavros Yallouridis, said “We are very excited to be sponsoring Scott in the 2019 AFJSA Australian Superboat Championship. Speedboat racing in NSW has always been very popular, attracting the interests of our Members and water enthusiasts who are also passionate about our industry.”
Scott started his career as a ski racer completing the Bridge to Bridge several times as a teen as well as the Southern 80 a few times. In 2015, Scott bought his own jetboat called Soak N Fused saying, “it just wasn’t fast enough” and by 2018 organised for a faster boat to be built. Scott then partnered with Rachel Parsons as navigator and created KAM Racing and a little boat KAOS (Scott’s old nickname from his ski racing days).
Scott has always had an addiction for speed, whether in a vehicle, in or behind a boat and has been involved in the motor industry for over 30 years saying, “I have been involved in the sport (Superboat) for a number of years and last year, 2018 I was the Australian Unlimited Class Champion.”
This is an exciting year for the Superboat Championship racing series as they celebrate their 25th Anniversary. The series will be contested over 7 rounds with 6 in NSW and Round 1 being in Adelaide.
