MTA NSW announced as a finalist in the NSW Training Awards, recognised for its innovation and commitment to the automotive industry

MTA NSW is proud to announce that it has been named as one of three finalists for the 2024 NSW Training Awards in the Large Training Provider category. The industry association has been recognised for its commitment to innovative training services and personalised approach to education.

The NSW Large Training Provider of the Year Award recognises a registered training organisation (RTO) that offers a wide range of training services and demonstrates excellence in all aspects of vocational education and training.

Stavros Yallouridis, CEO of MTA NSW, said: “As an RTO committed to offering innovative, personalised training opportunities, MTA NSW is honoured to be a finalist in the Large Training Provider category at this year’s NSW Training Awards.”

“We are passionate about creating a thriving automotive industry in NSW, and promoting the VET sector. We are proud to be recognised as a leading training organisation selected from a broad field of impressive applicants across all trades.”

MTA NSW is a pioneer of innovative training solutions that meet the emerging needs of the industry and play a role in closing the existing talent gap. In anticipation of the growing demand for skilled workers, the organisation has invested heavily in its training offering. This includes expanding the number of trainers from 20 in 2019 to having 45 trainers on staff today. In the last 12 months alone, MTA NSW has invested over $12m in the delivery of training, facilities and technologies.

These commitments have seen continued improvement for student satisfaction, with a steady increase in enrolments over the years. In 2023, the organisation commenced training for 21% more students than in 2022, and is on track to continue growing this number.

The industry association also remains dedicated to providing tailored training and education, providing each student with one-on-one mentorship programs and access to a Jobs Board to connect future apprentices with employment opportunities in the automotive industry.

Ian Price, General Manager of Training at MTA NSW, said: “Our philosophy of tailoring training for individual needs alongside the integration of real-world application sets our students up for success.”

“Supporting our students to achieve the best possible outcomes is central to what we do. This not only enriches their experience but also ensures that our graduates are well-equipped to meet the demands of the industry.”

Further highlighting the exceptional quality of training provided by the organisation, two MTA NSW nominees reached the regional finals of the NSW Training Awards; 19-year-old vehicle spray painter apprentice, Kynan Bonanno in the Apprentice of the Year category, and electric vehicle trainer Anthony Bonanno for Trainer of the Year.

The winners of the 2024 NSW Training Awards will be announced at a presentation event on Friday 13 September 2024 at Sydney Town Hall.
