Automotive Industry Secures a Critical Win by Keeping Automotive in the New Core Skills Occupation List

MTA NSW welcomes the Federal Government’s announcement of keeping automotive skills in the new targeted Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL).

The goal is to attract skilled migrants who can contribute to Australia’s economy, including automotive.

It includes over 450 in-demand jobs across sectors such as construction, agriculture, cybersecurity, health, and education. It’s designed to fill roles where no Australian workers are available.

The CSOL is based on labour market analysis and stakeholder consultation undertaken by Jobs and Skills Australia. It will apply to the Core Skills stream of the Skills in Demand visa and the
Direct Entry stream of the permanent Employer Nomination Scheme.

This initiative is part of the government’s plan to modernize the visa system and build a skilled workforce for Australia’s economic future.

This a great advocacy win for the automotive industry as this will assist businesses to access talent and help the industry reduce the skills shortages that are affected so many businesses across NSW.
